RICK OWENS

EASE IN ECCENTRICITY

SPRING/SUMMER 2026

LUMEN NOTE: A SACRED SOFTENING

For Spring/Summer 2026, Rick Owens offered a rare and resounding softness—without surrendering his signature severity. Staged in a hauntingly cinematic scene, models emerged from reflective pools of water, their steps slow and ceremonial, like modern deities in a post-apocalyptic baptism. The show unfolded like a surreal rite of passage, the water serving both as a literal and symbolic cleanser—a mirror between past intensity and newfound release.

This season, Owens appears to have peeled back some of the armor. Known for his architectural silhouettes and dystopian edge, he softened his vocabulary with a collection that felt, dare we say, wearable—yet never basic. The fluid tailoring, layered draping, and exposed shoulders retained his sculptural rigor, but came tempered by a surprising comfort and sensuality. Garments moved with breath, not just intention.

Mesh tunics, cocooned capes, leather overlays, and parachute silk robes glistened under the mist—offering glimpses of skin and strength in equal measure. The palette oscillated between monochrome austerity and gentle, luminous neutrals. Many looks bore an androgynous energy, underscoring Owens’ consistent transcendence of gender norms.

Hair slicked to the skull, the models resembled mythic beings—neither past nor future, but suspended in a now that felt eternal. They were not walking the runway so much as ascending through it.

Rick Owens SS26 may not be his most radical—but perhaps that’s the point. In an age of constant noise, there’s rebellion in restraint. This was Owens in reflection: same language, quieter punctuation.

A ritual in cloth, water, and grace.
